Getting started
Installing Arki-DB
1) Extract everything from the zip archive to your hard disk ( you have probably done this by now ).
2) Open your FTP program and upload everything to your desired folder. ( www.yoursite.com/arkidb )
3) Now comes the trickiest part, you have to use your ftp program to chmod some files. In most ftp programs this is done by right clicking on the file(s) and clicking on properties:
chmod 666 config.php
chmod 777 uploads directory
chmod 777 templates directory, and everything in it. That means the folder (1) and everysingle file and folder in that.
Failing to do this step will give you loads of nasty errors!
4) Run the install.php script. ( www.yoursite.com/arkidb/install.php )
5) Remove install.php & chmod 644 config.php
6) Login your new account, and click on the Admin CP link below the arkitus logo.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1) How can I make categories?
Click on the Add Category link in the Admin CP. If it is the first category you are making, it should be a super category. If it isn't the first category you are making, then you have a number of choices. For example if you want to make a parent category ( that is seen in the index ) you have to fill in the form the way so it is a parent. For creating subcategories, simply check OFF the boxes for being parent or super, then select its parent category.
+ Category 1
++ Sub Category of Category 1
In this case, "Category 1" would be "Sub Category of Category 1"'s parent category.
NOTE: IF YOU LEAVE THE FIELD FOR CATEGORY IMAGE BLANK, THE DEFAULT IMAGE WILL BE USED.
NOTE: DON'T FORGET TO SELECT AN OPTION ID, IT IS MANDATORY.
2) How can I make entries?
Surf to the category the entry will be placed in. Click on submit entry ( top-right ).
3) What are option sets?
Option sets are special options which can vary between different categories or subcategories. Each subcategory has a special number ( ID ) wich will be used for assigning them to different categories. Upon installation, a default option set will be placed, although it can be editted in the Admin CP.
